APACE celebrates Asian American, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month this year with the theme of Regrowth and Renewal. The theme is evoked in different ways from supporting our community/neighborhood, talking about mental health and providing resources in response to the spate of violence and hate towards the AAPI community.
APACE partnered with the San Diego County's D&I Executive Council to host an Anti-Hate Townhall, addressing hate speech, recent and ongoing hate incidents, and how we can remain resilient.
Panelists: Abigail Dillon, District Attorney's Office Dante Dauz, API Coalition & Union of Pan Asian Communities Charles Clark, San Diego Union Tribune Matthew Brown, Anti-Defamation League |
In keeping with our theme of Regrowth & Renewal, APACE hosted guest speaker, Dr. Emily Do, County of San Diego's Chief Pharmacy Officer, to talk about mental health within the Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander community.
Dr. Do discussed statistics involving AAPI mental health, barriers AAPIs face in receiving help, how we can combat stigma and how to better support our community. Read About AAPI Mental Health:

APACE organized a Convoy District Walking Tour hosted by the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP). The tour covered the history of Convoy, key establishments and groups, and upcoming developments. APACE donated over $100 to the Convoy District Nonprofit, which is pushing to install "Convoy Asian Cultural District" freeway signs and more.
Located in Kearny Mesa, this area is known as the heart of the AAPI community in San Diego as it is home to popular restaurants and cultural offerings. To see more, check out their Community Vision and Kearny Mesa community plan and consider donating to the Convoy District Nonprofit. |
